Exploring Learner's Experience
This session explored learners’ perceptions of those aspects of CPD which lead them to change their ideas and their practice. It was based on the observations and work of participants on two practice-based courses: the Chartered Teacher and the Scottish Qualification for Headship programmes.
Using CPD to assemble the means to act differently: constructing a personal ‘war machine’.
- Does changing your practice involve political activity?
- Do you think writing ‘academic’ stories about school projects for HEI programmes does produce accounts that can be used to change practice in school?
- If you change professionally how do you deal with your past?
Thinking movement: making changes through CPD
- Which aspects in the above account connect with your own approach to CPD?
- Which aspects….differ?
- How important is the connecting, juxtaposition, and movement between different spaces for learning?
- Must ‘the process of thinking be brought into being by forces external to the thinker’?
